Employers

Workforce Australia Local Jobs aims to ensure the maximum number of people are placed in appropriate employment or training opportunities as quickly as possible to meet employer needs as labour markets recover. To achieve this, expertise, resources and access to funding will be brought together at the local level to focus on reskilling, upskilling and employment pathways.

Employers are a key stakeholder and the Local Jobs works collaboratively with employers and other stakeholders to understand the needs of local employers, and design projects to upskill or reskill individuals to meet the demands of local industries.

Barwon region local initiatives

  • Introductions to Employment Service Providers who have a talent pool of over 5,000 jobseekers who they work with
  • Assistance with obtaining funding through the Local Recovery Fund or other Federal and State government funding available
  • Linking employers with local training opportunities to upskill/reskill staff
  • Connecting employers with existing Federal and State training and employment programs to find suitable staff
  • Working together to develop targeted activities that meet the priorities of the Local Jobs Plan
  • Creating tailored solutions to address local industry needs
  • Enabling local stakeholders to work in collaboration to design solutions to local issues regarding employment in their region and opportunities to better skill participants to meet local employer demand
  • Helping employers fill vacancies and connecting job seekers with employment and training opportunities

Strong local engagement ensures Employment Facilitators are responsive to the needs of stakeholders and understand local workforce challenges. They are ‘on the ground’ assisting employers to fill vacancies, so if you would like assistance with hiring or building training skills for your workforce, contact us today.
