Employers

Not all labour markets are the same. Local knowledge is vital to meet the needs of businesses and communities. Our Local Jobs Program works with businesses and communities to help develop thriving local labour markets. The program supports tailored approaches to skilling people to meet local workforce needs.

We provide advice to help businesses get the most out of hiring practices to attract and retain the right staff. We also work with organisations to develop workforce initiatives and solutions.

Barwon region local initiatives

  • Advertising vacancies and promoting to an extensive network of employment programs
  • Hosting Employer Forums for specific industries to provide networking opportunities between businesses and supports available for best recruitment practices
  • Assistance with obtaining funding through Federal and State government funding available
  • Working together to develop targeted activities that meet the priorities of the Local Jobs Plan
  • Creating tailored solutions to address local industry needs
  • Creating informational content e.g. podcasts, interviews, employment strategies for best hiring and recruitment practices
  • Hosting Industry Insights and Jobs Expos to promote specific industries to participants
  • Introductions to Employment Service Providers who have a talent pool of over 5,000 participants who they work with
  • Linking employers with local training opportunities to upskill/reskill staff

Strong local engagement ensures Job Coordinators are responsive to the needs of stakeholders and understand local workforce challenges. They are ‘on the ground’ assisting employers to fill vacancies, so if you would like assistance with hiring or building training skills for your workforce, contact us today.
