Visitor Economy Jobs Expo!

In collaboration with The Gordon, Skilling the Bay, Great Ocean Road Regional Tourism (GORRT) and Tourism Greater Geelong and the Bellarine (TGGB), Workforce Australia Local Jobs (Barwon) facilitated a Visitor Economy Jobs Expo on the 10th October at The Gordon TAFE’s Culinary Collective between 1pm and 5pm.

The Jobs Expo was designed to promote the many and varied jobs currently available in the sector, provide links to regional employers and connect to training options as appropriate.

The event aimed to maximise participation in the Barwon Region’s Visitor Economy and assist in meeting labour shortages by providing individuals with links to employment and there was an opportunity for short job interviews to take place on the day, with employers encouraged to offer employment to individuals at the event.

The event attracted 166 registrations, with 107 candidates in attendance. Over the next few weeks, Local Jobs will endeavour to determine how many job outcomes were created out of the day. Initial reports from the various employers that attended the event were all positive.
