Six roles offered at mecwacare Recruitment Event

On Wednesday 12 October Workforce Australia Local Jobs Barwon partnered with leading Aged Care provider mecwacare to host a Recruitment Event to recruit local people for jobs in community and in-home care for the elderly living in Torquay, Jan Juc and Anglesea.

Two sessions were held at 10am and 1pm at Wurdi Baierr Stadium in Torquay, with eleven people attending on the day. Each session consisted of an informal presentation to attendees about mecwacare and the roles available, before attendees were invited to have an informal one-on-one interview with mecwacare staff.

This event was well received and, subject to referee and police checks, six people were offered employment.

The roles available included:

  • Personal Care Workers – who assist clients to remain living in their own homes for as long as they wish by providing in-home assistance including personal care, domestic assistance, meals, companionship, respite, shopping, and transport. Requirements include a Certificate III in Aged Care, Home and Community Care or Disability or completion of first year Bachelor of Nursing studies.
  • Domestic Assistants – who provide essential cleaning services to aged clients living in the community, maintaining and enhancing their homes, their standard of living, and reducing health and safety risks. No qualifications are required but previous cleaning experience is desirable.

We thank mecwacare and the Surf Coast Shire for their support and involvement.

mecwacare are expanding their services and are continually looking for individuals who enjoy spending time with older people and supporting others. If you are interested in learning more about the roles available, please contact us or visit the mecwacare careers website.
