The Geelong Aged Care Jobs Expo took place on 20 March at the Armstrong Creek East Community Hub, bringing together 19 exhibitors including aged care employers, employment service providers, and training organisations. The event showcased a wide range of job and training opportunities in the growing aged care sector.
Around 100 attendees joined the Expo, including a student group from Cultura. Employers conducted on-the-spot interviews, with two candidates offered roles during the event. Career guidance and résumé support were provided by Cultura and The Gordon’s Skills and Jobs Centre, helping job seekers prepare for opportunities.
Feedback from both employers and attendees was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the event’s organisation and the strong interest in aged care careers. genU reported 30 course registrations on the day, and post-event surveys showed that 91% of respondents felt the Expo met or exceeded their expectations, with two attendees securing employment as a direct result.
Workforce Australia Local Jobs (Barwon) will continue working with employers to build on these outcomes and support the region’s workforce needs.
